About Chambers Park in St Louis

Chambers Park is a 6.31-acre public park located in the JeffVanderLou neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri. Established in 1966, the park was named in honor of Jordan W. Chambers (1896-1962), a prominent Black civic leader and political figure in St. Louis.

Jordan W. Chambers was active in local politics for many years, working to organize voters and improve conditions for Black residents. He owned the Peoples Undertaking Company and served as a Democratic Committeeman, becoming the first Black person to hold that position in St. Louis. Chambers was instrumental in efforts to integrate the Circuit Court and the St. Louis Housing Authority.

The park features a swimming pool that is free for all St. Louis City residents, with a lifeguard on duty during operating hours. In addition to the pool, Chambers Park offers various sports facilities and recreational areas for community use.
