Wingfield Park

Wingfield Park is a 3.21-acre public park located along the Truckee River in downtown Reno, Nevada. The park consists of several connected areas spanning both sides of the river, including an island in the middle.

The centerpiece of Wingfield Park is the Truckee River Whitewater Park, which features 11 drop pools along a 2,600 foot stretch of the river. This whitewater course attracts kayakers, rafters, and tubers, especially during warm summer months. The park's location in the heart of downtown makes it a popular spot for cooling off and enjoying the water.

In addition to water activities, Wingfield Park contains grassy areas for picnicking and relaxing. An amphitheater on the island hosts concerts and events, particularly during the annual Artown festival in July. Walking and biking paths run along both sides of the river, connecting Wingfield Park to the broader Riverwalk District.

The park dates back to the early 1900s, when it was originally developed as an amusement park called Belle Isle. In 1920, prominent Nevadan George Wingfield purchased the land and donated it to the city, leading to its current name. Today, Wingfield Park serves as a central gathering place and recreational area for Reno residents and visitors.
