Pershing Field

Pershing Field Park is a significant recreational area located in Jersey City, New Jersey. Spanning approximately 13.5 acres, it is one of the largest municipal parks in the city. The park was established in 1922 and named after General John J. Pershing, commemorating the grounds' use for military training during World War I.

Pershing Field Park includes several notable features. A prominent element is the "America Triumphant" statue, a memorial dedicated to Jersey City soldiers who died during World War I. The statue, created by sculptor James Novelli, was unveiled at the park's opening on July 4, 1922. Another historical feature is a large sandstone arch at the Summit Avenue entrance, which is the only remaining piece of the former Fourth Regiment Armory building.
