About Forman Park in Syracuse
Forman Park, located in Syracuse, New York, was first established on June 16, 1839, and was originally known as Forman Square. The park spans just over one acre of land, situated between East Genesee Street, Almond Street, and Forman Avenue.
The centerpiece of Forman Park is a bronze memorial dedicated to early civic leaders Joshua Forman and Lewis Hamilton Redfield, who were instrumental in the park's founding. This monument serves as a focal point and historical marker within the green space.
Another significant feature of the park is the Syracuse Police Memorial. This memorial consists of three stones inscribed with the words "Dedication," "Sacrifice," and "Tradition." It honors Syracuse Police Officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty, providing a place for reflection and remembrance.
