Walnut Park

Walnut Park is a linear park located in the University Hill neighborhood of Syracuse, New York, adjacent to Syracuse University campus. The park consists of three blocks of open green space, stretching from Waverly Avenue on the south to Harrison Street on the north. It is bounded by Walnut Avenue to the east and Walnut Place to the west.

Covering approximately twelve acres, Walnut Park serves as a central green space for the surrounding historic district. The park is divided into three distinct sections, each offering open areas suitable for recreational activities and community gatherings. Its location near Syracuse University makes it a popular spot for students and faculty.

The Walnut Park Historic District, which includes the park and surrounding buildings, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. This designation recognizes the area's historical and architectural significance, with many of the adjacent structures dating back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The park provides a tranquil urban oasis, featuring mature trees and grassy areas that offer shade and space for relaxation. Its linear design allows for leisurely strolls and serves as a pleasant thoroughfare for pedestrians moving between different parts of the University Hill area.
