About Baileywick Park in Raleigh
Baileywick Park, also known as Baileywick Road Park, is a 50-acre community park located in North Raleigh, North Carolina. Established in 1995, the park offers a variety of recreational facilities and natural spaces for visitors to enjoy.
The park features a paved walking trail that begins at the Baileywick Road entrance and loops behind the playground, eventually leading to the parking lot. This trail is part of the larger Baileywick Greenway Trail, a 0.6-mile path that connects Strickland Road to Baileywick Road, passing through the park and providing access to Baileywick Elementary School.
Baileywick Park has undergone recent improvements, funded by the 2014 Parks Bond Referendum. These enhancements include the addition of an open-air multi-use pavilion, a partially wooded and fenced dog park with buffer planting, expanded parking, general landscape improvements, and renovations to the existing restroom and picnic shelter.
One of the park's notable features is the new Baileywick Multi-Sport Pavilion, which opened for public use in 2025. This facility includes basketball, pickleball, and futsal courts, along with a restroom facility. The park also boasts two lighted baseball/softball fields and a multipurpose field, catering to various sports enthusiasts.
For younger visitors, Baileywick Park offers playgrounds with wood chip surfaces, designed for children ages 2-5 and 5-12. The playground area includes expansive jungle gyms, swings, and additional play equipment.
The park's dog-friendly areas include separate sections for small and large dogs, providing a space for pet owners to socialize their furry companions.
