Firestone Park

Firestone Park is a historic neighborhood park located in Akron, Ohio. Originally established in 1933 through a donation of 52 acres by Harvey Firestone, founder of the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, the park has since expanded to encompass 258 acres.

The park features diverse natural landscapes, including large wetlands and marshy meadows that provide critical habitats for various wildlife species. Over 175 bird species have been observed in the park, making it a popular destination for birdwatchers. The park's ecosystem supports a wide range of animals, including fish, crayfish, frogs, turtles, and mammals such as foxes, coyotes, raccoons, and rabbits.

Firestone Park offers several recreational areas and facilities for visitors. It includes hiking trails that wind through different terrains, providing opportunities for nature observation and exercise. The park also features picnic areas, fishing spots, and sledding hills for seasonal activities.

The park is divided into different sections, including the Long Lake Area, Coventry Oaks Area, Little Turtle Pond, and Tuscarawas Meadows Area. Each section offers unique experiences and landscapes for visitors to explore. The park is open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., allowing ample time for community members and visitors to enjoy its natural beauty and amenities.
