South Rotary Park

South Rotary Park is a 44-acre public park located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Established in the early 1920s, the park was donated by the Downtown Rotary Club and named after one of the oldest branches of the Rotary Club in the nation. At the time of its creation, the park was situated on the rural outskirts of town near the streetcar yard and the OKC National Stockyards.

The park features a variety of recreational facilities and green spaces for visitors to enjoy. It includes sports amenities such as a baseball field, basketball goals, and a tennis court. For younger visitors, there is a playground area. The park's expansive grounds also provide ample space for picnicking and outdoor activities.

South Rotary Park holds historical significance for the local community. On the northwest corner of the park, visitors can see a stone marker that indicates the former location of a stone amphitheater. This amphitheater once hosted plays, dance performances, and music events, though it no longer stands today. The sloping terrain where it once stood is still visible.

The park has undergone changes over the years. During the Great Depression of the 1930s, the northwest corner of the park was converted into Will Rogers Courts, which provided low-cost housing for families. Despite these changes, South Rotary Park continues to serve as a valuable green space and recreational area for the residents of Oklahoma City.
