About Washington City Park in Eugene

Washington Park is a 6.25-acre neighborhood park located in Eugene, Oregon, between West 19th and 21st avenues, and Washington and Lawrence streets. The park was purchased by the city in 1940 and has undergone several rounds of development over the years.

One of the park's notable features is its community building, constructed in 1951. This building holds the distinction of being Eugene's first recreation center and continues to be used for various recreational activities, events, and group gatherings.

A recent improvement to the park was the replacement of an old wading pool with a modern spray play facility. The spray play area operates between Memorial Day and Labor Day, offering a refreshing spot for visitors to cool off during the summer months. The water features are active from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily during this period.

Washington Park serves the South region of Eugene and is part of the Friendly Area Neighbors community. The park provides a mix of recreational opportunities and green space for local residents and visitors alike.
