About Bagley Park in Hillsboro
Bagley Park is a compact neighborhood park located in the heart of downtown Hillsboro, Oregon. Covering approximately two acres, this urban green space provides a pleasant retreat for local residents and workers alike. The park, which opened in 1926, holds the distinction of being Hillsboro's second city park, following Shute Park.
Situated at the intersection of Northeast Second Avenue and Jackson Street, Bagley Park is conveniently positioned just north of the Washington County Courthouse. Its central location makes it a popular lunchtime destination for those employed in the downtown area, as well as a recreational spot for nearby residents.
The park underwent a significant renovation project that concluded in 2008. This refurbishment included improvements to existing facilities and the addition of new amenities, enhancing the park's appeal and functionality for visitors of all ages. The updated park design aims to provide a balance of active and passive recreational opportunities within its limited space.
Bagley Park's layout incorporates both natural and man-made features. The landscape includes grassy areas for relaxation and play, as well as mature trees that provide shade and aesthetic value. Among the park's greenery are cottonwood trees and three large redwood trees, which contribute to the park's character and offer natural beauty in the urban setting.
