Wissahickon Valley Park

Wissahickon Valley Park is a 1,800-acre urban park located in Northwest Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The park is centered around the Wissahickon Creek, which flows through a deep gorge, creating a dramatic landscape within the city limits.

The park features over 50 miles of rugged trails suitable for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. The main thoroughfare is Forbidden Drive, a wide gravel path that runs alongside the creek for 5.5 miles. This car-free road is popular for walking, jogging, and cycling.

Wissahickon Valley Park is known for its diverse flora and fauna. The forested hillsides are home to various tree species, including oaks, maples, and tulip poplars. The park also features several historic structures, such as the Valley Green Inn, built in 1850, and the Thomas Mill Covered Bridge, the only remaining covered bridge in Philadelphia.
