About Fritz Hughes Park in Austin

Fritz Hughes Park is a small neighborhood park located below Mansfield Dam on Lake Austin in Austin, Texas. The park spans approximately 5 acres and features a 400-foot stretch of shoreline that slopes upward to a wooded and grassy plateau.

Established as one of the earliest Travis County parks, the land was donated to the county in 1939. Fritz Hughes Park preserves much of the feel of the original steep-sloped Colorado River bottoms due to the narrow width of Lake Austin in this area.

The park is primarily used for picnicking, fishing, and recreational activities. Its location provides visitors with scenic views of the surrounding hills and offers a tranquil setting for relaxation and outdoor enjoyment.

Fritz Hughes Park is open daily from sunrise to civil twilight, allowing visitors to take advantage of long summer days for water-based activities and lakeside recreation.
