Ellis Park

Ellis Park is a 10.5-acre public park located in southeast Fort Worth, Texas. The park was established in 1971 when J. Merida Ellis donated the land to the city. For many years, it remained a reserve park with minimal development.

In the late 1990s, a private developer contributed funds for upgrades to Ellis Park. These improvements were completed around the year 2000, enhancing the park's facilities and recreational offerings for local residents.

The park is situated in an area with historical significance. Nearby, Ellis Lake once existed as a private recreational lake in the early 20th century. Located in the vicinity of East Berry Street and South Riverside Drive, Ellis Lake was drained in the late 1950s to make way for the construction of the Southgate Shopping Center.

Today, Ellis Park serves as a valuable green space for the community, offering various amenities for visitors to enjoy. The park contributes to the local ecosystem, with plant and animal species that can be observed and reported through citizen science initiatives like iNaturalist.
