About Westcreek Park in Fort Worth
Westcreek Park is a 17-acre neighborhood park located in Fort Worth, Texas. Acquired in 1971, the park was purchased with U.S. Bureau of Outdoor Recreation matching funds as part of the 1965-70 Capital Improvement Program for the Southwest Hills area. Before its official dedication as a city park, it was known as Southwest Hills Park.
The park's terrain is characterized by flat to slightly rolling landscape, with a creek running along its southeast side. This natural feature adds to the park's scenic appeal and provides a pleasant environment for visitors.
Over the years, Westcreek Park has undergone several improvements to enhance its facilities and appeal to the community. Among the earliest additions was the installation of playground equipment. In 1986, a shelter was erected to provide shade and gathering space for park-goers. The playground underwent renovations in 2000, ensuring up-to-date and safe equipment for children.
In 2002, the City of Fort Worth entered into a lease agreement with the Fort Worth Independent School District, allowing the district to use 0.22 acres of the park for part of an athletic facility. This space was used to construct the outfield fence for a new baseball diamond at South Hills High School, showcasing the park's integration with local educational facilities.
As of 2014, Westcreek Park offered a variety of amenities for visitors to enjoy. The most recent improvement to the park was completed in 2023, with updates made to the playground area.
The park serves as a valuable green space in the Wedgwood East neighborhood, providing residents with opportunities for recreation, relaxation, and community gatherings.
