About William McDonald Park in Fort Worth

William McDonald Park is a public recreational area located in southeast Fort Worth, Texas. The park spans 13.9 acres and was established in 1981. It is bordered on the east by Interstate 820.

Named after William "Gooseneck Bill" McDonald, a prominent African American businessman and political leader in Fort Worth during the early 20th century, the park serves the local community as a space for outdoor activities and leisure.

Over the years, the park has undergone improvements, including playground renovations in 2003. These upgrades were funded through the U.S. Department of Interior Urban Park and Recreation Recovery grant and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Community Development Block Grant funds.

William McDonald Park offers a variety of recreational facilities for visitors of all ages. The park features open green spaces suitable for casual games and picnicking, as well as more structured amenities for sports and play.
