About Oakhurst Park in Fort Worth

Oakhurst Park is a small 1.0-acre green space located in the heart of the Oakhurst neighborhood in Fort Worth, Texas. The park serves as a central gathering place for the community, situated in the middle of this historic residential area that dates back to the 1920s.

The park was originally donated to the city in the 1940s by the developers of the Oakhurst neighborhood. During World War II, the park briefly housed a Red Cross station where donations were collected and community support activities took place.

Today, Oakhurst Park continues to be a focal point for neighborhood events and casual recreation. The park features mature trees that provide ample shade, making it a pleasant spot for picnics or relaxing outdoors. A playground offers a place for children to play, while benches allow visitors to sit and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

The Friends of Oakhurst Park (FOOP), a local non-profit organization, helps maintain and improve the park in partnership with the city. Their efforts have included planting seasonal flowers, upgrading irrigation systems, and organizing community events in the park.
