About Emmitt Park in San Antonio
Emmitt Park is a public recreational area located in San Antonio, Texas. The park is situated on the campus of Community Bible Church. It was created as a gift to the city from the church in honor of their former pastor, Robert Emmitt.
The park spans approximately 6 acres and offers a variety of recreational facilities for visitors of all ages. It features a large playground area designed to accommodate children with different abilities, including those using wheelchairs. The playground equipment is modern and provides a safe environment for kids to play and explore.
One of the park's main attractions is its splash pad, which provides a refreshing spot for children to cool off during hot San Antonio summers. The splash pad features multiple water geysers that spray water upwards, creating a fun and interactive water play area.
For sports enthusiasts, Emmitt Park offers several athletic facilities. There is a large basketball pavilion that provides a covered area for playing basketball, protecting players from direct sunlight. The park also includes two sand volleyball courts, allowing visitors to enjoy beach volleyball without leaving the city.
Surrounding these amenities is a walking track that measures approximately one-third of a mile. Along this track, visitors can find exercise stations, providing opportunities for a more comprehensive workout routine while enjoying the outdoors.
The park also includes areas for more passive recreation. There are picnic areas available for families or groups to gather and enjoy meals outdoors. Additionally, the park features a 300-seat amphitheater, which can be used for community events, performances, or outdoor gatherings.
Emmitt Park is open to the public from 7 AM until dusk, making it accessible for early morning exercisers as well as those looking to enjoy an evening stroll or playtime with their children after work.
