West Queen Anne Playfield

West Queen Anne Playfield is a six-acre park located in the Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. Situated across the street from McClure Middle School to the north and Queen Anne Community Center and Pool to the east, this park serves as a vital recreational space for the local community.

The park features fenced-in grass fields that are used for various sports activities. These fields, equipped with baseball backstops and bleachers, accommodate baseball, softball, and soccer games. The park's versatility makes it a popular destination for both organized sports events and casual play.

Outside the fenced area, West Queen Anne Playfield offers a partially wheelchair-accessible children's play area. This playground includes swings, slides, a merry-go-round, and a climbing structure, providing ample opportunities for young visitors to enjoy outdoor activities. Benches are conveniently placed near the play area for parents and guardians to supervise their children comfortably.

In 2023, the park underwent an upgrade with the installation of new LED lighting. These lights, equipped with hoods, were designed to reduce light spillage into the neighborhood and sky while providing energy-efficient illumination for evening sports activities.

The park's history is intertwined with the community's development. It was once the location of Harry Treat's stable and track, and from the late 1920s through 1958, it served as the fall football practice field for Queen Anne High School. In 1950, a field house was opened at the park, marking a significant addition to its facilities.

West Queen Anne Playfield operates from 4 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., offering extended hours for community use. Its location and amenities make it a central gathering place for residents, promoting physical activity and community engagement in the heart of Queen Anne.
