Lincoln Park

Lincoln Park is a 135-acre public park located in West Seattle, Washington, alongside Puget Sound. Established in 1922, the park occupies a headland called Williams Point, offering visitors a diverse landscape that includes forested areas, grassy meadows, and rocky beaches.

The park features 4.6 miles of walking paths and 3.9 miles of bike trails, allowing visitors to explore its varied terrain. A paved walkway runs along the beach, providing scenic views of Puget Sound, Vashon Island, and the Olympic Mountains. The park's shoreline stretches for about a mile, offering opportunities for beachcombing and observing marine life.

One of the park's main attractions is the heated saltwater Colman Pool, which operates during the summer months. Built in 1941, the pool offers swimmers a unique experience with its waterfront location. The park also includes several athletic fields, tennis courts, and picnic areas with shelters, making it a popular destination for various recreational activities.

Lincoln Park's forested areas cover approximately 64% of its total acreage, providing habitat for diverse wildlife, including over 150 species of birds. The park's ecosystem is considered one of the healthiest shoreline habitats in Seattle, supporting a variety of plant and animal species.

Throughout its history, Lincoln Park has undergone various developments and improvements. The Works Progress Administration (WPA) contributed significantly to the park's infrastructure during the 1930s, constructing trails, seawalls, playgrounds, and tennis courts. More recent renovations have focused on improving accessibility and updating play areas for children of all abilities.
