About Columbia Lancaster Park in Vancouver
Columbia-Lancaster Park is a 2.4-acre neighborhood park located in the Northcrest area of central Vancouver, Washington. The park serves as a local recreational space for the community.
Originally part of a planned community constructed by the Vancouver Housing Authority in the Heights area after World War II, the park is named after Columbia Lancaster, a Vancouver lawyer and politician who served as the first delegate from the territory of Washington in the U.S. House of Representatives.
In 2023, the park underwent significant improvements, particularly to its playground. The outdated play equipment, installed in 1994, was replaced with a new, unique playground featuring a science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) theme. This renovation was necessary as the old equipment no longer met current ADA standards and was becoming a safety concern.
The new STEM-themed playground includes a variety of engaging elements designed to stimulate children's minds and bodies. These features include a mobius climber, interactive electronic game panels, musical instruments, slides, swings, and a spinning climber. The brightly colored design adds visual appeal to the park.
Columbia-Lancaster Park is open daily from 5 AM to 10 PM, providing ample opportunity for residents to enjoy its amenities throughout the day.
