About Willy Street Park in Madison

Willy Street Park is a small neighborhood park located in the Williamson-Marquette area of Madison, Wisconsin. The park sits at the intersection of Williamson Street (locally known as "Willy Street") and Brearly Street.

The park was established in 1984 after community members successfully opposed the development of a Taco John's fast food restaurant on the site. The land was instead donated to the neighborhood and transformed into a public green space.

Willy Street Park serves as a gathering place for the eclectic and community-oriented Willy Street neighborhood. It provides a bit of green space in the densely populated area, offering residents and visitors a place to relax, play, and connect with neighbors.

While small in size, the park plays an important role in neighborhood events and activities throughout the year. It's often used as a venue for local music performances, community meetings, and other neighborhood gatherings.
