Kennedy Park

Kennedy Park is a large community park located on the east side of Madison, Wisconsin. Spanning 22.72 acres, it serves as a popular recreational area for local residents and youth sports leagues. The park features expansive open spaces, including multipurpose fields that are frequently used for soccer and other outdoor activities.

One of the park's notable features is its playground, which provides a space for neighborhood children to play and socialize. A paved trail winds through the park, connecting it to Kennedy Elementary School and offering opportunities for walking, jogging, and bike riding.

In 2008, the park underwent environmental improvements when neighborhood volunteers assisted Parks conservation staff in planting prairie plants within the park's managed meadow areas. This initiative has helped to enhance the park's natural beauty and ecological value.

A prominent feature of Kennedy Park is its large sun shelter, which includes several picnic tables, electrical outlets, and a drinking fountain. This shelter is well-suited for gatherings and can accommodate parties of 50-70 people, making it a focal point for community events and family outings.

The park also caters to various sports enthusiasts with its basketball court, tennis courts (which are dual-striped for pickleball), and volleyball court. These facilities contribute to the park's versatility as a recreational space for different age groups and interests.
