Beach Park

Beach Park is a 1.012-acre public recreation area located in Madison, Wisconsin. Situated along the shores of Lake Mendota, this park offers visitors a variety of amenities for lakeside enjoyment and outdoor activities.

The park features a sandy beach with a designated swimming area, providing residents and visitors with a place to cool off during warm summer months. A set of swim ropes marks the boundaries of the swimming zone, enhancing safety for water users. However, it's important to note that there are no lifeguards on duty at this beach.

Beach Park includes a beach house equipped with two unisex bathrooms, a water bottle filling station, and heating and cooling facilities. This structure serves as a convenient amenity for beachgoers, offering a place to change, use restroom facilities, or seek shelter from the elements.

For recreational activities beyond swimming, the park offers two tennis courts that can also be used for pickleball. A playground area provides entertainment for younger visitors, while a 4-seat swing set adds to the family-friendly atmosphere of the park.

The park's stone patio and fire pit create spaces for gatherings and relaxation, allowing visitors to enjoy the lakeside ambiance. For those arriving by bicycle, the park includes a bike repair station, reflecting Madison's bike-friendly culture.

Beach Park is typically open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, which is when the local health department conducts regular water quality testing. Visitors should be aware that park rules prohibit dogs on the sand or in the roped swim area, and only US Coast Guard-approved lifejackets are permitted.
