Caldwell Park is a public green space located in the Highland Park neighborhood of Birmingham, Alabama. Situated at the intersection of 26th Street South and Highland Avenue, the park covers an area of 2.69 acres. It was named after Dr. Henry Martyn Caldwell, a prominent figure in Birmingham's early development who lived from 1836 to 1895.
Dr. Caldwell served as the president of the Elyton Land Company from 1875 to 1895 and played a significant role in developing Highland Avenue and the surrounding area. The park's location adjacent to the Virginia Samford Theatre adds to its cultural significance within the community.
Caldwell Park has been a focal point for various cultural events in Birmingham. It has hosted the annual Do Dah Day parade, which is known as Alabama's largest single-day event. The park has also been the venue for the Alabama Symphony Orchestra's Summer Series, providing a picturesque outdoor setting for musical performances.
