About Ottenhiemer Park in Little Rock
Ottenheimer Park is an 11-acre neighborhood park located in the southwestern part of Little Rock, Arkansas. Situated adjacent to the Missouri Pacific Railroad, the park occupies land in the Cloverdale subdivision. The park's history dates back to 1965 when Gus and Leonard Ottenheimer dedicated the land to the City of Little Rock, with the intention of developing it into a neighborhood park facility for the residents of the area.
Initial development of recreational facilities at Ottenheimer Park began in 1968. At that time, an existing log farmhouse on the site was remodeled into a community recreation center, featuring a game room and meeting rooms for local residents.
The park serves as a tranquil oasis within the urban landscape, offering a variety of outdoor recreational opportunities for visitors. Its location at the edge of a residential area, where the woods begin, provides a seamless transition between suburban life and nature.
Ottenheimer Park is designed to cater to diverse community needs, featuring open spaces for leisurely activities and more structured areas for sports and recreation. The park's layout and amenities make it suitable for both individual relaxation and community gatherings.
