Hindman Park

Hindman Park is a 210-acre public park located in the southeastern part of Little Rock, Arkansas. The park features gently-rolling, tree-covered terrain adjacent to one of the principal tributaries of Fourche Creek. Established in 1965, Hindman Park was named after Biscoe Hindman, whose estate contributed $50,000 toward its development.

The park's landscape is characterized by a unique blend of wetlands, forest, and mountain terrain, offering visitors a diverse natural environment to explore. This mix of ecosystems provides significant potential for various outdoor recreational activities and serves as a habitat for local wildlife.

Hindman Park has undergone several developments since its inception. Initially, it featured a ballfield and playground, constructed in 1965. In 1971, an 18-hole golf course and clubhouse were added with assistance from the U.S. Bureau of Outdoor Recreation. Additional recreational facilities were introduced in 1976 and 1977 to expand the park's offerings. However, the golf course closed in 2019, marking a significant change in the park's layout and use.

In recent years, there have been efforts to revitalize and repurpose Hindman Park. The Little Rock Parks and Recreation Department has been seeking public input on a proposed Master Plan for the park, which includes the development of various amenities to enhance visitor experiences and attract outdoor enthusiasts.
