About Peacock Park in Miami

Peacock Park is a 9.4-acre public urban park located in the Coconut Grove neighborhood of Miami, Florida. Situated on the shore of Biscayne Bay, the park offers visitors a mix of recreational facilities and natural beauty.

The park has a rich history dating back to 1883 when it was the site of the Bay View House, later renamed the Peacock Inn, which was the first hotel on mainland Florida south of Palm Beach. The City of Miami purchased the property in 1934 and established it as a public park. In 1973, it was renamed Peacock Park in honor of Charles and Isabella Peacock, the original hotel owners and early settlers of the area.

Today, Peacock Park serves as a popular gathering spot for locals and tourists alike. The park features expansive green spaces ideal for picnics, relaxation, and various outdoor activities. Its waterfront location provides stunning views of Biscayne Bay, making it a perfect spot for watching sunsets or enjoying the ocean breeze.

The park is known for its recreational facilities, including sports fields and courts. It also hosts community events and is part of the annual Coconut Grove Arts Festival, where it becomes a venue for musical performances.

One of the park's unique features is the presence of Indian peacocks that roam freely, adding to its charm and giving visitors a chance to observe these beautiful birds in a natural setting.
