About Tropical Park in Miami
Tropical Park is a 275-acre urban park located in metropolitan Miami, Florida. Developed on the site of a former horse racing track, the park opened to the public in 1979 and has since become a popular recreational destination, attracting approximately 1.5 million visitors annually.
The park features miles of paved pathways winding through lush green spaces and wooded areas, providing ample opportunities for walking, jogging, and cycling. Four lakes within the park offer facilities for freshwater fishing and paddle boating, adding to the diverse range of activities available to visitors.
At the heart of Tropical Park lies the Ronald Reagan Equestrian Center, which hosts over 30 horse shows annually, including international events. The center boasts two clay show rings, two grass courses, seating for about 1,000 spectators, and a state-of-the-art show arena covered by a large steel roof.
Tropical Park Stadium, a multi-purpose venue within the park, serves as home to the Miami-Dade Track and Field Team and has hosted prestigious national track and field meets. The park also features various sports facilities, including fields for football, soccer, and softball, as well as courts for basketball, volleyball, and racquetball.
For dog owners, the park includes a two-acre dog park divided into separate areas for large and small dogs. The park also houses a boxing center, fitness zones, and playgrounds, catering to a wide range of fitness and recreational interests.
Tropical Park serves as a venue for community events, including a weekly farmers' market. Its diverse amenities and natural beauty make it a significant green space in Miami, offering recreational opportunities for visitors of all ages and interests.
