About Satterfield Park in Athens
Satterfield Park is a 13-acre community park located in Athens, Georgia. Named in honor of Dr. Wayne Satterfield, a founding member of the Little League program in Athens, the park offers a variety of organized sports facilities and fields for practice, match play, and tournaments.
The park features five baseball fields, one of which is dedicated to girls' softball. These fields are lighted, allowing for extended play into the evening hours. Satterfield Park is notably the home field for the East Athens Little League, providing a hub for youth baseball in the area.
In addition to baseball facilities, the park includes three outdoor tennis courts, which are also lighted for evening use. These courts have recently been adapted to accommodate pickleball as well, reflecting the growing popularity of this sport.
For younger visitors, Satterfield Park includes a playground area, offering recreational opportunities for children. The park also provides picnic areas, allowing families and visitors to enjoy outdoor meals in a pleasant setting.
