Walker Park, formerly known as Trail Creek Park, is a 113-acre public park located in Athens, Georgia. Situated just minutes from downtown Athens, the park is easily accessible from the Athens Perimeter or Trail Creek Street. Named in honor of community activist Virginia Callaway-Cofer Walker, this expansive green space offers a variety of recreational opportunities for visitors of all ages.
The park features over five miles of professionally constructed mountain bicycle trails, designed to accommodate riders of various skill levels from beginner to advanced. These trails, including the Green Loop, Orange Crush Loop, Drive-By Truckers, and Panic, offer different challenges and experiences for mountain biking enthusiasts.
Walker Park is also a popular venue for organized sports and self-directed play. The park's open fields are frequently used for football, rugby, softball, and ultimate Frisbee games and tournaments, attracting teams from across Northeast Georgia. For families with children, the park boasts an ADA-accessible playground and a splash pad, which is particularly popular during warm weather.
