About Manitou Park in Boise
Manitou Park is an 11-acre green space located in a well-established Southeast Boise neighborhood. The park features mature shade trees and a large open area, providing a pleasant environment for various recreational activities.
The park offers a range of facilities for sports enthusiasts. It includes tennis courts and dedicated pickleball courts, catering to both sports' players. There is also a basketball court for those who prefer shooting hoops. For families with young children, Manitou Park provides a playground suitable for ages 2-12, with a wood chip surface for safety.
In response to community feedback, Boise Parks and Recreation has implemented new operating hours for the tennis and pickleball courts. These courts are now open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and closed on Sundays and Mondays. This schedule aims to balance the needs of park users with noise concerns raised by nearby residents.
Manitou Park also offers amenities for relaxation and gatherings. A covered picnic shelter is available on a first-come, first-served basis, making it an ideal spot for family outings or small community events. The park's open grassy areas provide space for informal games and activities.
Visitors should note that restroom facilities and drinking fountains are typically closed during the winter months. However, portable restrooms are provided throughout the winter season for park users' convenience.
The park is open from sunrise to sunset, allowing residents to enjoy its facilities throughout the day. While on-site parking is available, it is limited, so visitors may want to consider alternative transportation options during peak times.
