About Emeis Park in Davenport
Emeis Park is a substantial 210-acre public space located on the west side of Davenport, Iowa. Established in 1961, the park serves as both a recreational area and a golf course, offering a diverse range of activities for visitors. The park's terrain is characterized by gently rolling hills, providing an ideal landscape for various outdoor pursuits.
The park is home to an 18-hole, par 72 golf course that stretches over 6,500 yards. Designed by C.D. Wagstaff, the course was inaugurated with an exhibition match between professional golfers Arnold Palmer and Gary Player on August 19, 1961. The golf course, built on 155 acres of the park, has been recognized for its challenging layout, having been named to Golf Digest's list of America's Toughest Golf Courses three times from 1966-1968.
Beyond golfing, Emeis Park offers a variety of recreational facilities catering to different interests and age groups. The park includes several baseball and softball diamonds, making it a popular venue for local sports events. Additionally, it features basketball courts, tennis courts, and pickleball courts, providing options for various athletic activities.
