Initially known as Southwest Park, it was renamed in 2006 to honor Dr. John Sunderbruch, a Davenport physician, community leader, and lifelong resident of the west end.
The park is characterized by its diverse landscape, featuring a mix of woodland and prairie areas. It offers visitors a chance to experience some of the most beautiful wooded scenery in Davenport, with rolling hills and ravines adding to its natural appeal.
