About Aley Park in Wichita
Aley Park, located in southwest Wichita, Kansas, spans 18.90 acres and has been a community staple since its acquisition in 1941. It is directly adjacent to Stanley Elementary School and offers a wide variety of recreational opportunities, making it a hub for both sports and family activities.
The park features multiple sports facilities, including two tennis courts equipped with lighting, two sand volleyball courts, and a basketball/multi-use court. For baseball and softball enthusiasts, Aley Park houses two diamonds complete with bleachers and dugouts, although these fields are not equipped with lighting. Skaters and bikers can enjoy a dedicated skate park within the grounds.
One of its most prominent features is the swimming pool, which is equipped to accommodate families with amenities such as a wading pool, 1- and 3-meter diving boards, a two-flume waterslide, and three shaded shelters. Snack and beverage vending machines add to the convenience for visitors enjoying the pool area.
Aley Park also includes an expansive playground area, which is currently undergoing renovations to improve the equipment and surfaces. The project is expected to be completed in the spring, with children benefiting from a safer and more modernized play environment. Other family-friendly amenities include picnic tables, restrooms, and ample parking. The park is also a pleasant spot for community gatherings and leisurely afternoons, offering shaded areas and scenic surroundings.
