Elizabeth Park is a historic public green space located in the Elizabeth neighborhood of Charlotte, North Carolina. Established in 1904, it holds the distinction of being Charlotte's first public park. The park spans 24 acres and is situated at the intersection of East 7th Street and North Kings Drive.
Originally designed by renowned landscape architect John Nolen, Elizabeth Park features a blend of natural and landscaped areas. The park is characterized by its mature tree canopy, providing ample shade and a serene atmosphere for visitors. Winding pathways traverse the park, offering opportunities for leisurely strolls and light exercise.
One of the park's notable features is the Arhelger Memorial Glen, added in 1931. This area includes a stone pavilion, pool, and miniature cascade, commemorating Lillian Arhelger, a local school teacher. The park also boasts a circular rose garden, designed by early landscape architect Leigh Colyer.
