About Corrine Jones Park in Charleston
Corrine Jones Park, formerly known as Hester Park, is a neighborhood park located in the Wagener Terrace area of Charleston, South Carolina. The park sits on a portion of land that was previously part of the larger Buist Tract, which was used for wartime worker housing during World War II.
After the war, the land was eventually transferred to the City of Charleston in December 2011 for use as a public green space. The park underwent renovations in late 2011, with the surrounding neighborhood raising $20,000 of the expected $95,000 cost.
Corrine Jones Park serves as a community gathering place, offering various recreational facilities for residents of the Wagener Terrace neighborhood and visitors alike. The park provides a mix of active and passive recreation options, catering to different age groups and interests.
