About Lincoln Park in Fort Worth
Lincoln Park, sometimes referred to as Quality Grove Park, is a seven-acre public park located in northwest Fort Worth, Texas, along the banks of Marine Creek. The park was acquired in 1934 and has historically served an adjacent African American neighborhood.
The park has undergone several transformations since its establishment. In its early days, a stone restroom facility was constructed around 1934, likely designed by Hare and Hare and built by the CWA/WPA. This structure has since been removed. In 1941, a WPA project was initiated to line the bank of Marine Creek with stone and improve recreational facilities.
As part of the city's segregation policies, a swimming pool and bathhouse were added to the park in 1960. These features have also been removed over time. Today, the park offers more modern amenities while still preserving its historical significance.
Lincoln Park is part of the larger Marine Creek Park Corridor, which includes Buck Sansom, Marine Creek Linear North, Marine Creek Linear, and Rodeo Park. This corridor is similar to the parkway envisioned by the original planners, Hare and Hare. In 2010, efforts were made to further improve the parks along this corridor, with implementation beginning in 2013.
The park provides a space for both recreational activities and nature observation. Visitors can enjoy the park's facilities while also having the opportunity to observe various animal, plant, and insect species that inhabit the area.
