About Marianne Williams Park in Boise
Marianne Williams Park is a 72-acre park located along the Boise River in East Boise's Barber Valley. Donated to the City of Boise in 2005 by Larry Williams in honor of his wife Marianne, the park offers a scenic natural setting with views of the Boise Foothills.
The park features two large ponds that provide habitat for various waterfowl species, including Common Mergansers, Gadwalls, Mallards, and Wood Ducks. During summer months, visitors may hear or spot Virginia Rails and Soras. The park is also home to songbirds like Common Yellowthroats, Yellow Warblers, Black-headed Grosbeaks, and Song Sparrows.
Paved walking paths wind through the park, connecting to the Boise River Greenbelt and offering opportunities for strolling and enjoying nature. The park's layout includes grassy open areas ideal for picnicking or relaxation. Wetlands, streams, and forested riparian areas enhance the park's ecological value and provide wildlife viewing opportunities.
Marianne Williams Park is part of Boise's "Ribbon of Jewels," a series of riverside parks named for prominent local women. While the interior of the park does not allow bicycles or dogs to protect its natural features, both are welcome on the adjoining Greenbelt path.
The park includes amenities to enhance visitor comfort and enjoyment, such as restroom facilities, picnic areas, and benches placed along the walking paths. It serves as a tranquil urban oasis, offering Boise residents and visitors a chance to connect with nature and enjoy scenic views within the city.
