Blue Jay Point County Park is a 236-acre park located on the shores of Falls Lake in northern Wake County, North Carolina. The park's primary focus is environmental education, which is accomplished through exhibits and programs at the Blue Jay Education Center.
The park features several hiking trails that wind through diverse habitats, including forests and lakeside areas. Visitors can explore the park's natural beauty and potentially spot local wildlife. The shoreline of Falls Lake provides opportunities for bank fishing, though all North Carolina Inland Freshwater Fishing Regulations apply.
For families and children, Blue Jay Point offers multiple playground areas. There's a traditional playground with age-appropriate structures for both younger (ages 2-5) and older children (ages 2-12), as well as a more natural playground area that incorporates elements like sandpits, log seating, and nature-inspired play equipment.
The park includes several picnic areas with tables and grills scattered throughout, operating on a first-come, first-served basis. Large open play fields are available for activities like flying kites or playing frisbee.
Blue Jay Point County Park is also home to a Go Ape Treetop Adventure course, offering additional recreational opportunities for visitors seeking more adventurous activities.
The park grounds are open daily from 8 a.m. until sunset, while the Education Center exhibit hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week. The park is closed on major holidays including Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.
